Swami Chidatmananda! All the way from India to Cedar Falls, Iowa! . It is a small world after all!
If not for our gracious hosts, Shashi and Rakhee and Dr. Kaparthi and wife Suguna in Hudson Iowa, this would not have been possible. The pastor of the UU church pastor Rod Debs gave us this opportunity.
May 24th 2001, Swamiji had to travel all the way from Minneapolis to Iowa, the 7-hour car journey and then a lightning get ready frenzy! And we dashed off to the church for the talk about Hindu philosophy. It is really nice of Pastor Rod to accommodate this talk at such short notice.
Pastor Rod 's warm welcome made us feel at home. Swamiji spoke about the depths of Hinduism. Let me tell you if time would not have been the limiting factor, Swamiji could have continued all night long. He got totally immersed, and began explaining the essence of Hindu philosophy at one of the highest levels! Pastor Rod Debs and his congregation were very impressed. The warmth of the American audience touched Swamiji.
It was nice of Swamiji to agree to a quick meditation session. This was very much needed to bring us back to earth! After all our brains went on high level thinking into space!
May 27th Sunday we had another session at the UU church. The topic was "Vision"! What an honor to have an opportunity to listen to that session, his simplicity and ability to relate to all age groups touched one and all. Swamiji after the session petted a teenager's little pet mouse!
This was very well received and Swamiji already used the fist pumping mannerisms, of the American non-verbal communication!
